Man dies after crashing AC Cobra into building!
BENICIA -- Police on Monday identified the victim of an industrial area crash on Saturday as Paul Peterson of Alameda.
Peterson died a few hours after his car collided into an industrial area building on Saturday, Benicia police said.
At about 5 p.m. Saturday, firefighters and police responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building in the 5000 block of Gateway Plaza Drive in the city's industrial park area.
According to a police department press release, Peterson was driving recklessly. He was speeding when he lost control and collided with a concrete trash Dumpster enclosure located at the rear of the building.
It also appeared that Peterson was not wearing a seatbelt.
The force of the impact resulted in Peterson striking his head on a cement wall. The vehicle he was in, called a Special Construction AC Cobra, sustained major damage.
Peter was driving the AC Cobra for a photo shoot at Special Sales Classics located at 5302 Gateway Plaza Drive.
He is an employee of the company, and did not own the vehicle.
He was transported to John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek, where he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later, police said.
The accident is under investigation, but drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor, police added.
Guys, for goodness sakes WEAR YOUR SEATBELT! This car no doubt had a five point harness in it, and the guy had nothing on!
