swlanewbie just an update, each trany is a thm 440-t4 with vacuum modulator, can the valve bodies be swapped because the computer wires are different. the complete trany tag for the 1988 is 618CTHWIT8Y WITH EXTRA NUMBER 188 2A O or 0 CT. THE 1990 is 611YDHW5JJ7 1YD.

hello, i am new to motoring. I am restoring a 1988 GRAND PRIX SE. I change the motor due to 2 cracked cylinders. After re-installation and a test drive, the Transmission 4t60(non 'e') started to have a clicking sound while driving or on stands. a scope on the valve case is where the clicking was coming. it sounded like the chain. now the question, can you take another trany from a 1990 'w' body car that has a 5 wire tcc connection and convert it to the 4 wire tcc connection that is in the car. the trany codes are, the 1988 trany is a 'CTH' which is 'w' body with a 2.8 ltr where the donner is 'YDH' which is a 'w' body with a 3.1 ltr. the cars wiring and computer only supports a 4 wire connection.
