1971BB427 Sounds like it might have an air pocket. Let it cool down and check the level again. Might need a air bleed hole drilled in the T stat to get rid of the air pocket.

350 chevy coolant problem

i was driving tonight after flushing the coolant system and i let it idle at the gas station for about 5 mins and the temp stayed at the usual 200 degrees but then i went to go home from the gas staion and she shot up past 245 degrees and right back down to 200, the systems flushed the level is full what would cause this please i need help thank you.
