The current starter works fine. ...........just looks grungy against the engine which I painted a couple of years ago. Yeah, I could take it apart and clean it up some but I am not going to replate anything. I went ahead an bought a rebuilt one from NAPA and it looks great. I applied a satin clear coat to all painted, plated and raw aluminum surfaces so that they stay looking good. I am keeping the old one for future rebuild if necessary.

poncho62 Probably a starter from a Chevy straight six from 63 right up through the 80s will fit

302 Z28 I concur about NAPA, stay away from AutoZombie.

OneMoreTime I go to NAPA for that sort of thing...Another thing is to make a good relation with your parts guy..He will be more helpful in that case..

'64 Chevy 6 Starter Motor

Where is a good place to get a decent starter for a 60's chevy inline 6 cylinder? Are there any reputable business specializing in offering remanufactured units? I am looking for something good, not junk. Prefer to keep my old one and purchase a rebuilt outright.

Thanks
