Thank you for the responses.
I don't want a blown motor because I want it to be a sleeper. I am looking into an AED 850, cam is .560/.565 and 243/251 at .050 duration. Compression is between 10.7 and 11.02. Will probably use Skip White's 383 stroker rotating kit but I can't get them to rerturn my calls so I started looking someplace else.
I have the TH400 and the 410 rear, intake manifold is currently a RPM Performer Air Gap but can be changed if necessary.

I wouldnt go much past 10.5:1 either, single plane might give more top end,600 lift cam is probably correct depending on the air flow of your heads? I would use an 850 holley double pumper and 1 3/4"
primary tubes headers. the engine will need to rev past 6000 so you will need transmission and gearing appropriate to your useage.

|bigdog7373||What are you thinking about for compression? You'll have to go decently high but i wouldn't take it past 10.5:1 if you want to stay on pump gas. I don't think you will hit 500hp. Not without using either race fuel of forced induction. I could be wrong, but 500 seems a bit wishful.|

New to Hot Rodders site building 1966 Chevelle 310
I've read some post about the 383 stroker engine on this website and was hoping for some guidance.
I have a 350 block that was decked to zero that is .030 over. I'm going to have to go at least to .040 because the pistons currently slap.
So I have this block that is ready to go and another block that wasn't decked standing by.
I have the RHS racing heads 200 runner Pro action. I also have the RPM Performern Air Gap intake manifold, high flow oil pump and water pump. I will use an electric fuel pump.
I hope to use either the 383 kit from White Performance kit number 4340 with either flat top or domed pistons or a kit from Skip White part number P3832P-.040.
I talked with Lunati and they recommend a .600/.600 lift roller cam.
Its a lot of info but I am also trying to achieve over 500hp/tq and still don't have a recommended carb.
With the exception of the heads, no part has been bought so please substitute if it will help attain my goal.
