4.3 not sure

Not familuar with 4.3 eng. On the front of the intake, about where the dist.usually sits is a short canister, with a wire plug going into it. Three bolts hold the canister to the intake. What is this & what is its purpose.

Thanks

Hello

Hello !

First time logging on.
I'am currenttly removing a 4.3 from a 2000 chevy blazer. Not sure about the main wiring harness, running across the eng. Doe's the wiring need to be removed from the fuse box. On the drivers side? SO THE MOTOR CAN BE PUILLED.

Thanks
