BlazerMan80 I didnt have the button up high enough to pop it the first time, when I pulled it harder the spring popped, rookie mistake, I appreciate your help.

RWENUTS Push up the tab on the kickdown cable. THe tab is on the backside of the bracket. Sometimes hard to get to but it shouls pop straight up. Make sure it's popped all the way up. Hold the throttle wide open. Push down the tab.
BTW the choke doesn't effect the primary throttle opening. It does the secondary if the choke lockout is working right. So choke on or choke off it doesn't effect your kickdown adjustment.

BlazerMan80 I had adjusted the kickdown, but doing some research on it, I believe I did not do it correctly, I did not open the choke wide open(off position), before opening the throttle wide open. I haven't had a TH350 in a while and did not remember the procedure to a T. If you have a procedure you use please let me know. Thanks for the help.

Chevy 350-1980 Blazer problems

Having problems with a 350 Chevy engine, have gone through everything, except the pickup coil, will test that this week. All other engine parts, including in the distributor are new. It runs very well from the take off, plenty of power. The problem I am having is that on the top end running anywhere between 45 to 65 mph, it will not kick the passing gear, and feels kind of flat. The engine has 1300 miles on it. Have a new Holley 550 CFM carb on it and a Holley pressure regulator, set at 5.5 lbs. With an Edelbrock 2101 intake manifold. The only thing out of the ordinary was a shaving or sliver of metal in the oil pan I found while putting in a new one piece oil pan gasket. It was just shy of about a half inch long, and 1/8 inch wide. My oil pressure is ok. There is no engine tapping or other noise. Not sure what to make of this problem. If anyone has experienced this, and can help, I would appreciate the info. Also the detent cable on the TH350 transmission seems to function fine. Thanks
