martinge thanks, that looks exactly like the tool I am using. Left and right in my post followed the convention from the drivers seat. I may have to pull the intake manifold to confirm that I am getting good oil flow to the right bank of lifters. Seems odd that the left bank prime fine but the right bank won't.

techinspector1 You'll need this type tool to close off the oil galley under the distributor seat....

Oh, and just a tip for you, in referring to the banks of the engine, it will make more sense to refer to the passenger side or the driver's side. Left or right depends on whether you're outside looking at the motor or behind the steering wheel, so it can get confusing.

Question on Oil Priming a BB Chevy

I am trying to prime a BB Chevy using the integral oil pump and the correct oil priming tool for this motor. The left bank of pushrods/rocker arms are priming fine but the right bank just exhibit periodic bubbles and no sustained flow. I ran the priming tool for at least 10 minutes and periodically rotated the crankshaft by hand to try to prime the entire engine. Anyone have any experience with a similar issue and suggestions about what I should do to solve this problem.
