Hello, I am John new to this site. I have a different project. I am going to put a 292 inline six on my airboat. The issue with this application is the prop will only turn between 2500 and 3000 rpm. this is the most efficient range for the prop. this is the range were I need my horsepower/ torque etc. The 292 is suppose to be a torque monster and is less than a v8. Thanks looking forward to be on site

Sounds interesting. One thing that came to mind when I read this, was the CG being kinda high because of the tall engine. Not a problem?

I don't see a problem getting the torque peak where the prop wants to turn, if direct driven. Is this the plan? Might not be a HP king, but torque should be sufficient.

Hi Mark
Hope all's well there.
The center of gravity doesn't seem to be a problem with the air boats, when I lived in Fa I saw some that were quite high & the driver right up there with the engine. I suppose it has something to do with the flat bottom?

Good point, Richard. That flat bottom would be stable, now that you pointed it out.

Hello John
I have a 292 in my swampbuggy here in Fort Myers..I was wondering how your airboat was doing with the 292?
I seen an airboat on crags list the other day with a 292 in it He was selling it.
IM allways looking to get another 292 for parts ...So if ya here of any 292 motors for sale let me know .
Thanks Capt. Kurt
