66 nova alignment

Thanks Super Sport. Great torque spec info for the front end parts! The alignment specs are different from the chevy II only specs that used to be up. Looks like they redisigned their website.. ...Does anyone else have some front end specs they would like to share. I used to have a nice long thread regarding alignment specs and people's opinion over them conflicting. I believe it was deleted.
here are specs i researched note the toe in is total toe in..you divide in half for each side
Anyone want to add their 2 cents here?
SECTION 14 SPECS
CONDITIONS: Curb weight, full tank of gasoline, full radiator, proper engine oil level, proper tire pressure level, and no passenger. heights not held.
CAMBER: -1/4 deg, +- 1/2 deg within 1/2 deg from side to side
CASTER: -1 deg, +- 1/2 deg within 1/2 deg from side to side
TOE IN: 3/16" to 5/16" total
Does this sound correct guys? Does anyone have the specs ChevyIIonly used to have posted before they went and changed their website????
Proper alignment is my #1 priority. These cars become very unstable at high speeds with incorrect alignments.
With this said...I plan to beat this thread to death until I feel I have consensus among fellow board members. Nothing is more confusing and frustrating than having different sources for alignment specs which conflict one another.

|lildrip049||does anyone know how to measure steering axis inc, the wheel pivot ratio-outer degree (nova specs call for 18.75). and the wheel pivot ratio -inner degree (nova specs call for (20.0)|

|lildrip049||if you look at www2quicknovas and w2ner.net/nova-align.htm...the specs for the 66 nova call for the toe to be .25 to .375..the 67 nova has the .125 spec...am i wrong...should i just try tro get it to the .25 of the range that the specs call for...thx russ|

|lildrip049||thx for the response---I obtained the info off a machine that was used to alignment the front end of the car, i believe the machine is henderson having software that comes with the specs....|

I have never heard of setting up a car with cross camber or SAI, don't have a clue why one would want that. Maybe in severe circle track racing where all the car does is make left hand turns around a track. I guess there could very well be a use for it there, I am thinking that is exactly where you would use it. Most street driven cars have equal numbers and when you have a "cross" it's a bad thing, not the end of the world often if it's not that much, but you don't WANT a "Cross" in any of the specs.

I would agree with Sedan Delivery, the toe-in looks a bit much to me. As he suggested, I would go with 1/8 and see how that works.
If you can find someone with a Hunter aligner, they can probably measure all of the other angles that you are looking for. Whenever you have all of the suspension dialed in to the best ride, handling, tire wear, etc., have the alignment checked on a Hunter aligner, to see what the measurements really are. They should be able to give you a printout of your vehicle. Then, when ever you need to have your vehicle aligned again, you can give the alignment shop your custom specs for them to set it to. If the shop says they cannot align to custom specs, find someone with a Hunter aligner.

the specs you posted look ok except the toe in..check around for someone thats done this for many years. i believe the toe in should be half that for each wheel. if you put 1/4inch per wheel you will surly wear out your tires. an 1/8 inch per wheel should be about right.

1966 nova alignment issue
I had my 66 nova aligned by a henderson alignment machine ewhere I know that the front left and right wheel alignment is camber is ideal at +.5 degrees (0 to +1.0 range); caster ideal at 1.0 (+.5 to 1.5 range) and toe in for each wheel at .25 inch to .375 inch). I need to know for each wheel the "SAI" , "Included Angle", and Turning Angle Diff."
For the entire front I need to know for the front end the:
1. Cross member
2. Cross caster
3. Cross SAI
4. Total Toe
5. Cross Turn Diff
