Yes, you can install a Camaro (no E in Camaro) rear end in a '55 truck. If I remember correctly they are the same width, as long as you are talking about a first gen Camaro. These are 60 inches wide. The second gen Camaro rear end is 61 inches wide and the third gen Camaro rear end is not even worth talking about. All you have to do is cut off the Camaro leaf spring perches and weld on narrower spring perches for the truck springs. You must get the angle right so that you don't run into problems with your pinion angle.
what year camaro and what version of 55 chevy truck?
regardless of what big gear head says...
i have a 3rd gen 86 trans am rear end under my 58
on stock 58 springs, using the 86 sway bar and the 86 torque arm
it's the right width, the right 3.27 ratio and has held up to my 350hp sbc for 3 years
Ogre, you have the Borg Warner 9 bolt, not the weaker 7.5 10 bolt that is much more comon in the 3rd gen Camaro. The BW rear end is quite a bit stronger.
