Oh, they also told me it didn't need to be reduced either. Then, I got a smarter guy on the phone and he said to just add paint thinner until it sprayed reasonably. As noted earlier....4:1:3 was what I had to do. It sprayed as if it was a wall-texturer until I hit 4:1:3.
I also tried pressure ranges from 10-60, and it wasn't until I hit 3 parts reducer that it worked. It was a mess until then.
Then, once we got it spraying....it went on very nicely and it sands great--leaved a nice finish once you get it prepped. I went 320, second coat of primer, then 400/600.
I'll put color down in two days....Wandabase. We'll see how it goes.

|mjmikelson||I just tried to use this stuff. Saying it's thick is an understatement. To get it to spray out of my Harbor Freight "Pro Auto" series guns, I had to crank pressure up to 45 at the gun, and run a mixture of 4:1:3. Yup....three paint thinners.|

|crashtech||If rock chips are a major concern, doing some research to find the most chip resistant materials may pay off well. Epoxy primer tends to be more chip resistant than other primers in general.|

call them to see if its available where you are or you can order it ,but I promise you its worth the wait ....it runs about 180.00 for two gallons ,one gallon of primer and one gallon of activator. mixed at 1:1 tel# 404-307-9740
I've abused this stuff every way I could think of and it still works great...even piled on 8 coats back to back it had no affect ,just took longer to dry.I wont use anything else....

|deadbodyman||my tip is a 1.4 too...but for off road you should really try some SPI epoxy,and it wont chip or scratch so easy...it builds,sands and blocks well also ,unlike other epoxies..everybody that trys it,lovees it..itcan even be used as a sealer...One primer for all jobs...|

|2ndchanceauto||keystone can't even send a part for the correct side of the car i can expect them to have good primer. ppg,dupant,basf,standox,HOK,sherwin williams,even nasson would be better.imo|

|crashtech||The directions are to comply with the law. A small reduction with good reducer is called for, use the least amount that makes it work for you. With the 2.0 tip, even 5% may make a drastic difference.|

reduce it anyways those guys dont know jack.Use a urathane grade reducer.
try 10% and spray some ,then 20% untill it starts working...sounds like old stuff but keystone products kinda suck anyways...

Help with Urethane primer
Im a paint and body novice so I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question.
I purchased a Keystone product called ProPrime that is allegedly a quality 2 part high build urethane primer. I tried spraying it with a cheap Ampro hvlp gun with a 1.4 tip and got a terrible texture. I literally could not make it run.
Next I assumed my tip was to small and tried it out of a cummins tool sale hvlp gun that I have for spraying tractor paint. It has a 2.0 tip.
This gave me more of a fan but actually gave more texture as well as boogers and strings.
The stuff seems to want to plug up the holes on the sades that set the fan position.
I have tried every adjustment on the gun from entirely one way to the other.
Tried air pressure for 10 to 50. Nothing works.
I believe this stuff should be reduced however the supplier(keystone) says no.
What say you guys? I really have to get this jeep done and this is holding me up badly.
