|dubya31||I guess that didn't answer your question. The roof is chopped 4" and a Volvo station wagon donated its roof for the fill-in. Its channeled 4 1/2" and the rear wheelwells are raised 2"" and tubbed 5". The firewall is reversed, doors are suicided and flush fit.|

r.p.m.= ruins peoples motors usually
My 409 stroker has seen 8000+ rpm. 474 ci and lots of nasty. Rpm is no problem with quality parts and assembly.

The engine was built at Howard Race Engines in Barrie, and is a 30 over 409 block, balanced etc., Scat 4" crank, and H beam rods, Ross 11.5/1 pistons, Comp Hydraulic Roller Cam 511/521 with 4/7 swap, 817 heads redone and ports cleaned up, 3 angle valve job, comp cam springs, Harland Sharp roller rockers. I used the 817 heads rather than Eddys so i could keep the old school look of 6 Holley 94s.
I had a little set back and had to order a new fuel reg today. The original would only go down to 4 psi and I need to regulate fuel pressure at 1 1/2 to 2psi max or it will overpressure the carb needle. Just a couple days till I get the right one!!

Still need to fully prime the engine and make sure it has lube on all the lobes. Make sure you install the oil filter full and get gas up tp the carb so it starts right away. Double check all the wires and firing order to make sure its perfect.
I still use zddp additives on start up but they say they are not needed. Its not going to be in the engine long so figure it wont have time to hurt the cats. But i also dont run cats in most of my cars are older.

|vinniekq2||no, but I would keep the rpm above 1700 for a few minutes while adjustments are being made. Slow the engine down as the tune settings are found.Hope you spent a few dollars on th e valve train,,,,|

Fresh Engine Startup
I,m about to start up my stroked 409 for the first time. Its got a roller cam and valve train and I was wondering if I have to break in the roller cam the same as a flat tappet cam. Doe I need to keep the RPM up around 2500 to break in the cam?
