I have been told to be careful with the type of color coating that I put on the transverse spring on my Corvette suspension. is this true? It is a composit material and I do not want to weaken it. I would like to match the color of the truck if at all posible.

I think that is one of those want to ideas that may not be the best idea on further reflection..If you must then paint it with a good epoxy primer and then paint to match the truck..We paint carbon fiber and fiberglass all the time and I have had paint hold on steel springs..subject to the regular road rash of course..

You could go to the local print shop and have them cut you a piece of vinyl in your choice of color, then "wrap" the spring. Prolly less than $10 for that and it's easily removable...

YellerTruck rear looks great I just purchaced a complete 1984 running ,driving corvette I am starting to build a 1950 chevy pu i am thinking of remiving body ,replacing with truck body ,probanly have te extend frame,I know track width is same on both ,but i like yours ,looks like you used original frame an adapted to fit. did you make brackets or buy premade ,if so where did you find them.all kits i found i have to use coil overs I want to keep transverse spring for looks ,I will not be racing any, also will be using engine ,trans interior ,and wiring harness to make things simple probally tilt frontend brackets also

Hi 496,
I built my own brackets for the rear end. the wheel base ended up 26 5/8 inches longer than the original Corvette so I had to extend the stabilizer which is the rear transmission mount. The front clip was cut at the point where the frames matched and then bolted and welded it in place. I moved the front wheel center line back 1 1/2 inches because it looked better in the wheel wells and had no problem with tire to fender rub. building the new firewall bump was the biggest chore.

YES. that wood on the outside of the box (red mahogany)
