SSedan64 It sounds like the TC/TorqueConverter isn't fully installed into the Trans. Most likely the TC Hub lugs/splines aren't in the Pump Gear Lugs.
You need to spin & push in on the TC when installing it. The Input Shaft, Stator Support & Pump splines need to engage. Normally hear/feel 3-clicks/clunks.
Do Not use the Bellhousing Bolts to pull the Trans up to Engine, this will break the Pump gear/rotor.

Make sure your Flexplate bolt pattern will align with the TC bolt pattern. Some have dual bolt patterns but, some don't & wont fit.

700r4 Help SBC rebuild

I had a SBC350 TBI engine with a one piece rear main seal and a 700r4 trans. I got rid of the old engine and now have a freshly rebuilt carburated 350 with a 2 piece rear main seal, that I think came off a 1970's vehicle but im not sure what kind.

I finished putting the engine togother and was ready to attach the trany so I can finaly drop it my my 66 c10 ... but then I hit a wall

I placed the original 700r4 torque converted on the tranny and im pretty sure I sat it all the way in, when I try and connect the bell housing to new engine the torque converted presses againts the flywheel and wont turn. Is there a different torque converter? Or what am I doing wrong. The flywheel in using is the one that came with the 2 piece rearmain seal engine,
