bentwings I wouldn't exactly say that I enjoyed the spending but it is more than made up in the fun of driving. haha

My regular cruise buddys just accept me and we get on with the mission but when I show up as a stranger at other groups I get lots of attention and curious looks.

spinn My experience with FI has not been to harsh financially. My first rebuild in last May did a 144 BM, purchased $800 off craigslist. Bearings and gasket kit $175. Rebuilt it, sold it, and installed in 1 weekend. Freinds camaro became a terror. When we did the blower cam he lost alot of low and mid boost due to cam overlap. Careful with that. Freind was disapointed with 2nd result.

In last July after getting bit by the roots bug, I did my 85 C10 . It was pretty expensive $2000. The same results , an absolute terror with no cost to driveability.

Last month I got a Jacksonracing supercharger for my integra for $1000. The whole kit. Still need a couple small things. My expectations are high. Like 14 sec 1/4 and 190-200 whp.

The only supercharge project that was over a grand was the Edebrock on my truck. Because it was brand new. You dont have to spend a fortune.

10k , yikes , Not many people could do that...and enjoy it.

ap72 Selling an unknown engine by a private party with no warrenty... Honestly I'd say asking $5k would be a bit on the high side. You're going to take a huge hit on it no matter what you do- if you have all your reciepts it'll be a little easier to sell but in the end you're selling a 500hp-ish sbc, and its going to be in the same market as other 500hp engines that were built a lot cheaper.

Try posting ads with local car clubs or at car shows/cruises.

You may be better off selling the short block, heads, and blower separately too.

bentwings Here is a quick way to figure the cost of a blower motor. Just pick what you want.

You can get a pretty good idea of what is needed for a blown motor from here and gather the parts yourself. However......be aware there are many variables to consider....waterpump length, belt type and sizes, quality of blower, size of blower, carb sizes and types, various brackets and mounts.

10 grand is a good starting point.

68NovaSS Parts are parts, the price should be easy to figure out. Much of the expense depends on how far you go with machine work and who does it. Machine work can get expensive, boring, hone, machining for billet splayed caps, line boring, balancing (heavy metal is expensive), decking, ect. cost me over $3,500 seven years ago in Anchorage for bare block work on an 8-71 383. You save big if you blueprint and assemble yourself; I know you can get quality work done in the lower 48 for a lot less. There are only two shops I would trust in AK, same with the differential hosing narrowing, Jay Childs did mine, reasonably, the rest, including back half, I did, and I can't put a figure on my time over years it took building and painting it.
