DanTwoLakes Your machine could have reverse added to it, but it would not be cheap. Reverse is mechanical on your sewing machine, so it's not a question of reversing the motor, it's not done that way.
If you have a clutch motor on your machine, you would only be able to slow it down by putting an AC variable speed control on it or do it mechanically by putting a smaller pulley on the motor. The speed control would be expensive, and you would be better off to put a servo motor on the machine.

Here is the manual for your machine, but threading is hard to see in the diagram:

Look at this thread for a picture of how to thread the machine:

Need advice on many Singer 111w151

I purchased a Singer 111w515 to upholster my 30 Ford roaster. I have a Singer 99 light duty i used to make door panels on my sedan, it has reverse. I got use to that for starting and competeing stitches.

Could the 111w be wired to run in reverse to lock stitches?I have a varack that i use to slow various motors with brushes down or up. Wonder ing if that would work to slow down and or provide greater control?

Also, where can I find an instructional book. Want to be sure I've threaded it correctly, including installing the bobbin.
Thanks in advance .
