Before you start checking resistances at the wiring harness connector, let's back up a step to the easy stuff. Is the check engine light on? If so, have you pulled the codes? If no C/E light is on, and/or no codes for electrical components inside the transmission, then I would not waste time changing out the wiring harness, or solenoids. Chevy's are pretty good about popping a code for electrical items within the trans. *Usually* the absence of codes for electrical problems inside the trans leaves you with mechanical issues. Please note I said *usually* as there are exceptions to this.. Many, many, exceptions.
Can you tell us exactly what the trans is doing wrong, or not doing right? Pull codes, then let us know what is happening with the trans and we can help you from there. Also, how many miles on the trans? What color is the fluid & what does it smell like? What is the fluid level?

Do a resistance check at the pin connector. The passthrough pins at the connector are A thru S. Each is connected to a seperate component (A shift sol. A, B shift sol. B etc.) Pin E is ground. So for example to read acceptable value of shift sol. A Take OHM meter reading pos. lead on pin A, neg. lead on Pin E. The acceptable value would be 19-24ohms resistance if checking trans cold temp. 24-31ohms if trans at operating temp. You need the known acceptable values of resistance for componant, Here they are:
Shift Sol. A and B Cold 19-24ohms Hot 24-31ohms PINS A-E PINS B-E
TCC Enable Sol. Cold 21-26ohms Hot 26-33ohms PINS T-E
TCCPWM Sol. Cold 10-11ohms Hot 3-15ohms PINS U-E
3-2 ClPWM Sol. Cold 22-24ohms Hot 29-32ohms PINS S-E
PCS Sol. Cold 3-5ohms Hot 4-7ohms PINS C-D
If your readings differ from these you will need to drop pan and ck. resistance at the componant itself thereby eliminating the harness, if readings correct at componant, the difference is in the bad harness which means it needs replacement.

1998 chev 1/2ton 4x4 4l60e problems
i am having problems with my 98 chev 1/2ton 4x4 transmission. How do i determine if the wiring harness is the problem
