Pulled my valve covers to set the valves and found this laying next to a valve spring. Been about 2000 miles since I set the valves (solids) so it was time. Looks big enough to at least block an oil passage. Any ideas what it is and where it might have come from? It's not a ball shape, it' kind of tapered on each end. Hope the pic shows it well enough.
What engine is this from? I would tend to go along with a push rod tip, but have never seen one broken "that far" up. Is it "hollow with a lube hole? How's the engine running? You've definitely got some interest in what it might be. Could it be the result of being vandalized? Butch/junior stocker.
Fine example of why regular check-ups keep you on your feet, or in this case firing on all 8. good catch.
