jake_draws I would love to vote too, but the 20 post cap is currently stopping me. If I'm honest I mostly come to hotrodders.com to look in the Art section, so I dont really generate many posts, maybe a lowering of the 20-post cap would help?

brickyardboy This one was for March. The April one is the next down the list - "59-'66 Chevys."

texastomeh You wuz robbed cm324!!

Of course I am only joking!!

I believe that Jon makes a very good point. It just boggles my mind that a forum with this many viewers only musters 19 votes for artwork of this caliber!

These guys are TALENTED!! Let's show a little appreciation for their effort!!

Jon Votes declined when we mandated a minimum number of posts to vote, and made all votes public (although it looks like we got a slight bump this last month).

However, we traded volume of votes for credibility of votes. We had a situation where entrants were encouraging their friends to join and vote. Because this wasn't against the rules, it created an environment where artists increasingly had to "recruit" voters to win. I know this practice is common, especially in Facebook "Like" contests, but, IMO, it ran the risk of transforming the contest from an art contest into a popularity contest.

The upside now is that we have more of a meritorious contest, with a greater variety of winners. If the contest is enjoyable, I see no reason to discontinue it.

If we want the volume of a popularity contest, with the merit of an art contest, one option may be to encourage clicks on the "Nominate Post for Newsletter" link that accompanies the art contest threads.

brickyardboy Oops, Bob you're right! I guess I jumped the gun before the contest ended. Congrats Jony!

57Corvette Looks to me like Jony won this months contest ....congrats to whoever won it.

brickyardboy Almost forgot, congrats goes to our man, Kartoon, for winning this month's contest!

brickyardboy I agree with you guys. There's probably many lurkers that come to the site and read the material here, but don't post very often. Case in point - the only posts I've ever made on HAMB is for the Friday art shows, but I've looked at loads of other things on the site without commenting.
I think the intended reason for "x" amount of mandatory posts is to prevent self-serving people from joining this site to sell something or promote a particular product or service.

Kartoon 57, that's my opinion too.

57Corvette Not sure why Jon changed the voting to a certain amount of posts before you could vote. I'm guessing there are people here who look at the work each month and may want to vote, but don't post much here. I think if you join the forum you should be able to vote on the work, whether you comment or not....just my opinion though ......

texastomeh Absolutely LOve the '68 Charger! First new car that I ever owned was a '68 Charger. Nothing like '57's artwork though!!

Gotta' go with the 'Ghia though for "originality"!! That is cool!!
