|DanTwoLakes||Don't look at Home Depot or any other home improvement store for glue, they don't have what you need. You need contact adhesive designed for car interior work, Like DAP HHR Top and Trim Adhesive. That will work for anything you want to do inside your car. You should read this Wiki article: http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/w...ntact_adhesive Overspray will come off with mineral spirits, but you can also brush on top and trim contact adhesive. Trust me when I tell you that most aerosols just won't work well for car interior work.|

Thanks for your advice on the ash tray now that doesn't seem like something I can screw up, but I can surprise myself sometimes, hahaha..

What kind of glue are you using? The best way to do the ends and get the excess fabric out of the way is to cut a piece that matches the end and sew the two pieces together. Then you are cutting the sewn in piece and not the larger middle section. Then if you make a mistake you are only replacing the small end section, and not the whole dash.
For the ash tray hole, cut a horizontal line in the middle about 2" long and then four angled cuts up towards each of the four corners. Fold the fabric onto the back side of the dash and glue the vinyl down. Then just put the ash tray back in to hold the vinyl in place.
