X2 on what everyone has posted...including hand packing the bearings...a tip for getting the proper tension on the bearings is to spin the rotor or drum while your tightening the bearings...this helps to center them and gives you a good indication as to when they have enough pre-load.

I snug them down to make sure to suck them up,,, Then back off until it just turns freely and then put the cotter pin in.. You don't want them too thight or too loose... Thight enough that it turns freely.. Hope I explained this where you can understand what I'm getting at..
When it's done you should be able to spend the rotor.. If it's too thight,, You can burn them up.... I seen some guy's thighten them so much you can't turn them.. And tell you they have to be that thight...
Make sure you put the cotter pin back in place...
Some people may do it different,, This is the way I do it..

66 impala front wheel bearing
Hey all I need to replace my front wheel bearings on my 66 impala, so my question is how do I set the preload/rotating torque on these bearings? Thanks.
