With some effort, I ended up being able to adjust it out on the alignment rack. It seems to work great now.
I spent a ton of time piecing this all together for my '63 Impala to avoid buying a kit and I saved a lot of money. I had a suprisingly hard time finding some of this. This should work for any '58 - '64 Chevy full size with manual steering, from what I understand. The origional factory power steering cars need an adapter for the draglink and a manual pitman.
Any pump and hose setup you choose to go with should work, I got mine from junkers for free.

Any parts store should be able to get it, but they're frequently out of stock. I found mine on Amazon
The steering shaft setup is a ujoint that's 3/4" 30 spline to 3/4" 36 spline and then an 18" 3/4" 36 to 36 spline shaft.

|enjenjo||I believe you have the Pittman arm installed 90 degrees off. Turn the wheels straight ahead, remove the Pittman arm from the box, center the steering box, and reinstall the Pittman arm. It will fit on 4 ways on GM boxes.|

It sure sounds like it to me.
Have you heard about CPP's 500 series box? It completely eliminates the slave cylinder and is a direct bolt in with no frame modifications required.
The boxes they sell are new boxes and not rebuilt like most (if not all) the ones you will find at the parts stores. It's about three times the price but well worth it imho.
I'm not sure what the original ratio was but the 605 box is 12.7:1 and the 500 is 14:1

605 gearbox issue
Is it possible to assemble a Saginaw 605 power steering box off a tooth? I converted my 63 impala using all the parts that were suggested and I get 2 turns to the right and a little over 1 turn to the left.
The gearbox was a reman I got from O'Rilley (cardone 27-6506). I'm using the correct drag link and pitman, according to everything I've read. The only thing that I can think of that makes any sense is the gearbox was assembled wrong. I'd just like to know that that's even possible to do before I go ripping it apart.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
