|vinniekq2||If you talk to Richard about building a car,he will stay to start at the back end and do the engine last.He has more time at the track than most of us combined. He is a race car tech inspector|

Well I haven't eve launched the car hard yet, so I know I can pick up some mph there, the headers are 1 3/4 slp shorties. I'm not sure on inside diameter, if I swap to a taller tire I'm sure I will stay in my power band a lot longer as well. This trip to the track was just to see what it could run I'm by no means an expert driver or drag racer, I'm well in my learning stages but I do rest well knowing that this engine still has a lot more power in it. It's definitely a learning experience to see how an engine runs, and how fast you can go
With it when the car is set up for that particular engine. I give a lot of respect to you older gentlemen that have over 1000 passes down the track, I got a real taste of what it takes besides having a powerful engine.

|2fast4love||I weigh 160 buddy, take exlax a couple of days before race day so I'm even more lightweight|

|2fast4love||I weighed the car at a truck stop and it tipped the scale at 2900 pounds. The shorts are on due to the k member, it's tubular from racecraft. I had so much trouble clearing the steering shaft I had to get the number 3 tube reshaped and welded. My intentions were to slam the car so I needed the clearance from the long tubes. It is a true dual set up following the factory y with a flow master scavenger h type pipe from a 2010 camaro. It's similar to a h but a lot smaller, I'm running bullet mufflers just before the rear end, I may try getting a set of long tubes since they are starting to go real cheap on third gen . Org. Thanks|

|2fast4love||The engine is supposed to have 550-575 hp, I followed a build on the afr website, I even called the company the built it previously. They told me the engine had been built in the late 90s so it should be making a fair amount more power. I'm not launching the car hard yet, I'm still running on the stock t56, I do have a scatter shield just in case as well. I haven't recorded any videos yet, I just have the slips, I will try to post pics up later. It is a street car, I've driven it to Austin tx which is about 100 miles away from me. Thanks|

|vinniekq2||I think it has 480 plus horse power. The launch is weak with a 2 second 60',thats why I said to tune the suspension.do you have a video of the car?sounds like its a lot of fun to drive|

|2fast4love||That sounds good to hear, I know the car has more in it. I need to run a taller tire, I'm crossing the finish line at almost 7k rpm. The car has 4.11s now, and I only launched it at 25k rpm. The car has tube a arms and k member with a pinto rack. I weighed it at a truck stop and got 2900 pounds, the rear suspension has all tubular components as well with comp drag shocks. What do you think?|
|07-26-2013 11:50 PM|
The MPH indicates very low 11s.I think its time to tune the suspension, the engine is making decent power.
If its a serious drag car, then the gearing will need attention when you get better hook.
I ran 11.9s at 110 mph with one car and 114 with another car, your 121 mph is good for low 11s,maybe high 10s

I ran the car on Saturday
11.96 1/4 mile @ 120.94 mph
This was all test and tune not running the car very hard, I do need to swap to a real slick instead of the drag radials I have. Going to go with a taller tire as well I have 275/50s on it now. I would like to go solid roller and swap to a super victor 2? What do you guys think?

When checking boost pressure. The type of exhaust system you use will have some effect on boost psi.And compresson will also add heat.
|07-07-2013 06:45 AM|
Switch to e85 and run the pro charger at about 10-15psi. This really isn't rocket science. Fuel makes a huge difference and most of these posts don't take that into account. I'd leave the rest as is fr now just have your carb tuned for e85. You may need a better fuel pump too.
Oh and be prepared to watch the gas needle drop fast. E85 runs more volume than gas especially when under boost.

Pass on the supercharger /not a good move with the current status quo.
You say you got 10.5:1 , bit much? No , WAY much to 'shove/force'. Injection/boost.
(93 in Texas , e-85 if need be .). You must make sure that your fuel system is compatible with alcohol fuels to use this benefit ! ) What type of vehicle is this? Road car , ? Strip ? Drag car .?
Improvements -: solid lifter valve train. hydraulic for heroines , mechanical for men!
What is a 950 aed? ( pardon my ignorance, is that a carburettor?) , if so, mmm, bit big ??
Drop from super victor, to victor junior , should suffice , IMO.
'Shorties' headers?? ... That's a bummer!!!!
560 hyd roller, got more specs on that? Like a part number.?

|vinniekq2||how quick is the car now? what are the 60' times,,,etc|

|2fast4love||Okay I would like to know what you guys would to this engine. It's in a 2900 pound firebird, t56, 411 nine inch. I'm running a 950 aed, 1 3/4 shorties that I have to use on this set up super victor out of the box, and msd ignition. Please any advice is greatly appreciated|

IMO, any 'performance' engine build DESERVES a solid lifter arrangement.. but that's just me.
