A simple flow bench test will show you where they are at.
I do a simple quick test at .400" and at the point of peak flow ( .550" lift is good)... This simple flow bench test pretty much tells the tale of the heads power potential.
I like to get the flowing over 230CFM. @28" at high lift.
If they are not ported now, get busy. The better the heads flow the better the tunnel ram will work.
You can and will get a good result with a good honest porting effort. I do.

Here is your home work. Read it know it, there will be a test.
You wont make 550hp with the ported 305 heads, but you will make well over 400hp
if you do them right. you got to lean on that die grinder thou.

Lock out the distributor advance curve 36deg BTDC locked full time.
Champion RV8C plugs .035" in the 305 heads.

Yes a tunnel ram will work well , with some changes. The 305 heads,,, what is the casting number?
305 heads need max porting to benefit from the big valves. Are they max ported? If not , get busy with the die grinder. You need max home hand porting to wake up the 305 heads.
The 4416's are the best of the bunch.
The tunnel ram likes lots of cam (a solid is highly recomended) a big converter (3500+++stall) and big gears.
cams: Isky 201027 (at minimum) 201534 201CC1 are all good
Isky 235D springs.
650x2 750x2 carbs ( edelbrock or holley DP) on the T ram
Get the true cr up to 10.50:1 Deck clearance, chamber volume, gasket choice.
Ditch the gear drive.. Sell it to a poser. It is slowing you down.
The cam you got now needs a 3500+ stall ...All the Isky solids listed are way better.
More gear is more better.

350 questions possible tunnel ram
Hello I got a 350 4 bolt main block 80 to 85 40 over flat top pistons 305 heads machined out to a 202/160 I think there 64 camber 488/510 cam Roller rockers gear drive 7 quart oil pan msd pro billet 6al box high.rise intake manifold holley 650 trans turbo 350 shift kit 2500 stall 10 bolt posi what hp would I make i was thinking about a tunnel ram with 2 4s could my set up now work with a tunnel ram set up ? Thanks
