BM Ride 85 Thanks for the info, yes this car is driven on the street, did not know about burning up the converter, so basically, if I just have the trans rebuilt with new seals, clutches and servos and get a lower stall I should be ok and the trans will hold up, this car is just basically a street toy with nuts, not planning to go to the track the main objective is to have fun with it and put the wanna bees in their place you know what I mean

85 Monte with the 377 stroker

This isn't a street car is it?? With a 3200 stall you will burn up the converter on the street because you will never completely hook up till you are at 3200rpm and your converter will be slipping till then. The 200r4 trans, will it require a extra large trans cooler and does it have the deep pan? Some of these racing transmissions arn't suitable for street application either, they shift HARD, not smooth. Might be cheaper to have a trans built with a shift kit and new seals and run the 1800 or 2400 stall. Just and idea, some of these good deals just arn't if the application is wrong.

BM Ride 85 Yea it's a ride allright, I'l call them and see what they have to say his prices might be unbeatable and if Like what I hear I could have it shipped through my company, but yea that would be funny to buy a trans for 1000.00 and go get it, at an additional 1000.00 in travel expenses and say I got a deal I'm not that polish---lol

poncho62 We have a local tranny shop here, that the owner does hi perf tranny work. He trys to keep things opretty reasonable. Perhaps there are similar places in your area. Shop around a little, get advise from other rodders.

I don't know about you, but I really am tired of these people and shops that think you can't get something decent, unless you buy from the "Big buck" enterprises.

BM Ride 85 Yea, everything in the midwest, Chicago area is expensive, I have been out of hotrodding for about 15 years man how things and ideas have changed, so any advise or pointing me in a different direction is greatly appreciated

poncho62 It's no bargin, but I don't know the prices in your neck of the woods. Around here, I would think that you could get something like that for about a grand.($1000)

Tranny Question

I have built a 377 stroker motor for my 85 Monte, I have no knowledge of transmissions other than what they are supposed to do, and what I want them to do, I was turned on to a 2004r trans made by raptor from a friend, It is supposed to have all the bells and whistles with a 3200 stall, basically a drop in and go trans, my question is, has anyone heard of this trans or used one or does anyone have any other advise before I spend this kind of money on something I maybe should not. Thanks
