|NAIRB||I enjoy overhauling engines, but if this was daily transportation, and I wanted some insurance, I would go with a crate engine that carries a good parts and LABOR warranty. Many remanufacturers offer labor reimbursements with their engines and the prices can be very good compared to buying your own parts and paying a machine shop. There are some engine rebuilders like Marshall in Kearney, Nebraska that offer a three year, 100,000 mile warranty, that's worth looking into.|

|BstMech||Myself I would rebiuld it, but the 4.3 is a good motor, you should be able to find a decent one at the parts yard. If your having someone else do it, it would be cheaper to replace than rebuild. However a rediuld will almost always come with a better warranty, its hard to find a used motor with more than 30 or 90 day warranty 90 days being about the limit. If this Blazer is a keeper, and your mechanic has served you well in the past, then I would go a rebuild. With a rebuild you know what you have.|

Rebuild or Buy 4.3L
Just bought a Blazer(used) and was told the Cam Shaft Bearings are shot. My mechanic suggested replacing the engine.
Do I Pay to rebuild or replace the engine.
Which one is cheaper? Which one is better?
