54 Chevy My 54 has a 327 in it. You will definately need to chop those fire wall braces.

My car has been clipped and a 78' Camaro subframe welded in place. I would recommend a narrower MonteCarlo unit though. You'll get into trouble with axle width and tire clearance if you lower it too much. There is also lots of room for an HEI distibutor. I can easily pull mine in and out with no fire wall clearance problems. I love the power steering, disc brakes, & modern suspesion setup. I've got a Nova rear axel and standard drive shaft.

One big problem with clipping a car is that you now have to fabricate mounting brakets for radiators, bumpers, fenders, batteries...

You can do alot of these updates to your original frame via kits. But they can get pricy.

12-13-2002 07:20 PM i've done this one before, you have to trim the lower outer firewall braces and either get rid if the steering box or offset the engine , the entire drive train has to be replaced as it is an enclosed setup and adapting isn't worth the money considering the stock stuff was for low horse six.Change to 12volts!

Biggarmike Mid size or full size- no problems at all. If it's a Nova body you will have firewall / distributor clearance problems. (you did mean 65 didn't you? that would have been a 230 or 250. a 56 would require some minor changes, it's been done exactly 32,984 times)

motor mods to 54 chevy??

I just got my hands on a 54 chevy with the orginal 265 straight 6. I'm thinking about putting a 327-350 block in it. anyone know if this will work??
