No, not in OEM. 3.73 will make the Camaro leap right out with your HP and low first gear. Any abuse when you go over 400 HP will definitely shorten the life of the 700. If it has been beefed up, it will live longer, but you will need to pick and choose when you want to punish it. The big spread between 2nd and third can cause some slipping when you are holding your foot in it and is the weak area that could fail early. Again, a beefed up tranny will help in this area.

|Robinson Robin||The 12 bolt isn't much stronger than the 8.5" 10 bolt (which I assume you have)|

The 700 R4 will handle the power just fine. The 10 bolt will also do fine, unless you plan on launching with slicks on the car.

Transmission and Rearend set up
I'm building a 375 to 450 horse engine to put in my street camaro and while trying to set up the car, i've run into some questions that no one i know around here can seem to answer. I'm thinking of running a 700r4 and my uncle has a brand new performance built one that he has said I can have...and free is always good. But my question is, will my 400+or- horsepower tear the trans up, or tear the overdrive up, or can it handle the power. And my other question is, will my 10 bolt posi rear taken from my 1981 Z28 parts car (my car is a 1980) hold the horses or will i need to upgrade to a 12 bolt.
