Depends on what condition it is in. A lot of people will poo-poo a Chevy 307 as a smog motor. I have a different view. I had a 70 model Nova with an original 307 two barrel three speed standard that I installed a Crower 280 cam/rev kit, Edelbrock Tarrantula intake, headers, Holley 600cfm and a four speed Muncie that would run very solid mid thirteens on street tires in the Nova with the stock gear. The heads never came off the car and the engine had 17K on it when I started the mods. It was one of those combinations that everything clicked on...really strange. I had a dickins of a time with people acusing me of having a 350 at the drag strip.

To answer your question, I would say between $100 to $250, unless it has been recently overhauled.

I'm sick of 350-355-383 sbcs...

why not build a 307? A 283? A 327? A 377?

Hahahaha, gotcha there with the 377... 400 block with a 350 crank- the leftovers from a 383. It'll be a big bore short stroke mill, so not a lot of torque, but it'll like to rev. Which can be fun.
