Know what you mean BullH, but that also means it"s doing it's job, not leaking water or air. Make sure it's all the way on. I tap it with a soft (rubber) hammer or the like to make sure it all the way down so that helps it close easier.

|bullheimer||its lookin i'll have to r'n'nr it. i'm trying to pm 36 willys for sure tho. it's just so g.d. agrivating to have the doors just click shut w/o weatherstripping, so perfect. then you put on the w.s. and have to SLAM THE **** OUT OF IT!!! it's like "that can't be right"|

|38 special||BullH, when I put the weather stripping on motorhome trunks the long side goes out.(away from the inside of the trunk) Sounds like you do have it on backwards. This prevents water and air leaks. Yes it does close harder but turbo is right, it closes easier as time goes by.|

|spankyway||I think you probably do have it on backwards. Weather stripping is made to keep stuff out and the biggest seal against the door would work best. I fthe door is hard to shut you could always adjust you hinges.|

On my 57 I mounted it with the long edge out. It was hard to shut at first, but it got better over a month or so. That was 7 years ago and it still seals pretty well, and that was JC Whitney cheap stuff. I think you might have it on there backwards.

truck door weatherstripping
my truck (<-) has new weatherstripping from golden state pick up parts gspp.com, (i had to cut out an inch on the bottom cause it didnt fit, but thats beside the point) its cross section looks like a chair with the back of the chair being the longest side and kindof a lip of the end where your knees would be. sorry thats the only way i can explain it. the first time i mounted it with the long end out in the air and closer to the cab than the door and the door had to be slammed to shut. it obviously sealed better because of the extra foam edge being closer to the cab, so i changed it, cause it also looked like it was designed to have the longer edge next to the door. up until now, it has been sealed very nicely, now there is air whistling threw and big draft. i will check to see if the door slipped at the hinges, but in the meantime, if you can figure out what i'm talking about, do i now have the weatherstipping on with the correct longer side glued onto the door??
