|69GMC||Are you sure it's not the #5 Cyl ?? Cause the past 2 heads I've had for the truck tend to blow at the #5. When I bought the truck it had a blown head. I went and got one from the boneyard, it was blown, all on the #5. So I ordered one from Johnson and Tippton in N. Carolina for 200.00. I didn't think it was a bad deal. I'll be getting it in the next couple weeks here..I'll let you guys know how it works out.|

|junior||The 292 is a great motor for the standard daily driver or original rebuild. It has good low and mid-range power and will do the job. If you plan on anything spectacular such as making a street rod then go V-8. The sixes didn't really do too hot when it came to high rpm's-#6 cylinder tends to blow at continuous high rpm's.|

|rooster||REALLY DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT TO DO I MEAN THE 292 IS A GOOD ENGINE AND A VERY GOOD RESTORED TRUCK BUT AS A PROJECT AND THE NEED FOR SPEED THAT I HAVE A HOT V8 WOULD BE MY CHOICE!.|

I have an inline 6 cyl 292, and I was wondering what you guys think of those motors. It's sitting in a 69' GMC Pickup with a 4 spd tranny, and a 12 bolt posi rear. I'm in the middle of restoring it and I was wondering if I should keep it for now, get everything else done and then put the V8 in it..or just keep it for good. It has the non integrated head.
