Ford Block hugger headers

Hey all,
I'm wondering about exhaust on my 34 Ford coupe project. I'm running a 351W matted to a T-5 5-speed trans. The body is fiberglass, and I have been talking to some guys about heat transfer from exhaust if I run regular headers. They told me a good idea is to run block hugger style headers. I found a few companies that make them, but what do you guys think? Where does the exhaust exit...right by the motor mount? Will they fit good and clear a manual trans, starter, and motor mounts, spark plugs, etc.?
What I was thinking of doing was ordering a pair of shorty headers, H-pipe, and the rest from flow master for the regular Mustang 5.0...bolt it all up and weld the seams. Would that work? I think I'm liking the idea about the hugger headers for a clean look. Exhaust goes straight down and no heat transfer by the firewall. But what about an H-pipe? Wouldn't the exhaust suffer because of no cross-over pipe in the system? Does anyone make a kit for the block hugger headers( some cutting required obviously).
This is all going on a Street Beast 3 window coupe..not a real 34 Ford frame. Any thoughts on the exhaust issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Check out sanderson headers at;

they are the originators(I believe) ofthe block hugger and have an excellent on line catalog that has pics of the various ones, you can see where they exit. From the ones I've seen, the newer versions by other companies pretty much follow the Sanderson pattern.
