Classix_Lover I looked again and next to the GM 7.4L was a G I think, could've been a 6 but most likely a G. I was thinking it could stand for the Gen and eager to find a 6 after it but absolutely nothing after that so I'm at a stand still. Any takers?

Best way to id an engine?

Hey everyone, I need to know the best way to id an engine since I'm planning to run a blower setup on my el camino (454) sometime in the near future. I'm about 80% sure this is the 454 H.O. crate gen VI motor but I just need to be absolutely sure that's the specific engine since I know it's perfect for a blower setup, like it was made for it really and don't want some other engine that'll detonate when I get the blower setup installed . I know there's some id on the engine block and all I found was GM 7.4L on the passenger side of the engine. Maybe I'm just missing where the id numbers are and even if I do find it, where do I go to id the motor with the numbers?
