hey all. i have a stock 350 and it only has about 20 miles on it but for some reason it started running like crap. so i pulled the spark plugs and the plugs had like blackis fuel on them, so im guessing its not fireing any more. all my plugs were like that. so i wanted to do a compression check to see if thats it. and also could my wires be shorted out from being to close to the headers?

They changed a lot throughout the years. I would say around 120 to 140 PSI.
That would be acceptable as long as all 8 are within a few Lbs. of each other, I think the acceptable variance is +/- 5% or thereabouts. HIgher is better but 120 is OK.

My 90,000 mile 1976 8.5 to 1 350 has 160 PSI on all 8 which surprised the crap out of me. The avg. for one of those when new was 150-155, considering the miles I was hoping for 120 to 140, I can live with 160. :)
