|hotroadster||Im not familiar with Pontiacs. But I suggest you take your starter to a starter / motor rebuild shop. Ask them if they can replace the manual switch with a solenoid. I know it is possible to rework the starter for my 28 Ford, I would assume it could be done with your 46 Pontiac. It involves replacing the insulated contact with a bolt and installing a solenoid. I've been told it is a easy swap. But it will probably take at least an hour of shop time [$50 or so].|

Electric starter for '46 Pontiac
I have a partially restored '46 Pontiac Torpedo. I would like to install an electric starter and do away with the push pedal starter. Does anyone have any tips on starter brands and caution on potential problems? Thanks.
