Shooting single stage is no problem with "window" time like a base/clear.
You paint it and your done. So, shoot it and if it takes a week to do the other color,no big deal.
Paint can appear dry even to the touch but you stick some tape on it and the adhesive will begin to "work" on it and then the solvent from the next color get's in on the act making things even stickier. Setting a freshly painted whatever in direct sun will cause it to skin over and actually take longer to completely cure out and sometimes not at all. Leave it inside and let it cure out naturally.
No need to rush it now,You've worked long and hard to this point and a few extra day's wait will be better than tape track's in your new paint.

|shine||i would'nt set it in the sun. the temp inside will be enough. i would give it a couple of days just to be safe as willys36 said. 1 day if you shoot right and allow flash time and such.|

|Bluepen||Now I can't bake the paint because I'm doing this in my 2 car garage but I can pull it out side and let the nice HOT Texas sun get to it all afternoon. Belive me in the past couple of weeks while sanding it there have been times when I couldn't touch it for very long it was so hot. Would that help at all or hurt it??|

|baddbob||The water on the floor does help to keep dust down and will usually raise the humidy level making the paint dry faster, I see a major change in the winter months with my heated floor when it's wet. I'd let the singlestage cure overnight at a minimum before masking on it. Shoot the first color where it needs to be and let set overnight in good temperature 65+, mask for the second color and wetsand any dryspray/overspray off before applying the next color (I'm assuming your first application of paint will not be covering the entire car).|

|email@example.com||One day is iffy, I like to wait two days B4 taping fresh paint just for insurance. Body shops do it all in a day but they are baking their paint too. The wet foor is to keep the dust down while you are walking around the wet painted car.|

2 Final questions before......
OK, I've got 2 final questions before I start painting the '46. First, the truck will have two colors on the body. I'll be using single stage urethane paint with 3 coats. I'll start painting first thing in the morning when it's still a little cool, lower 70's, but will quickly warm-up into the 80's and lower 90's. I'll be using a slow reducer also. So the question is how long do I have to let it dry before I tape off the first color so I can paint the second. With my shift work this is the set up I'll have to work with. Final sand and tape tomorrow, paint first color and re-tape Friday, paint top half and re-tape Sunday, paint lower half Tuesday. I know thats strange but we're short handed here and I can't take any time off from work. I figure since I'm painting first thing in the morning by late afternoon, early evening I'm hoping to tape the next stage if thats enough time.
The second question is kind of a "duh" type question. When I see shows on TV where cars are being painted the floors are always wet. Does the floor need to be wet and does this help in some way??
