kd5boc Oh...the only numbers I could get off of the camshaft were 200209 stamped on the back. That's it...anybody's guess?

Another Piston ID and general ID questions...

OK...I've done my search on L2256's, and it seem that there are a few manufacturer's...

After removing my engine (and selling my car) I decided to start freshening up the outside of the engine before I install it to something else. It already ran real good and strong with no problems.

Since I had the plugs removed I figured that I would start looking at what's in it without removing too much stuff.

I know that I have an 87 350 bored .030 over with what looks like a stock 4-bolt bottom end as everything is cast, but VERY clean. It has been zero-decked for the little pad on the passenger's side front has been machined down (no ID), and all the points that stick out are also machined where they should have ID numbers. I can get the ID numbers off the rods and crank if someone had the numbers...but they are stamped GM on them so....

My questions....
The pistons have L2256 030 1A219 in them and they have the 4-valve reliefs and some kind of inverted cone in the center between them. Forged or Cast, and who made them if possible?

When I go to remove my intake (must replace the leaky gasket at the rear) is there a way to check what CAM is in it without removing it? Are there casting numbers, or will I not be able to see? Or should I go buy a degree wheel and gauge for the lifters/etc and check manually (I'd rather do this but if there is an easier way....)
I have pressure checked all the cylinders and they are very much equal to one another, so I know it seals good...but it only had 8" of vacuum at it's rough idle...and pulled very hard to over 5000rpm.

It's a great motor, ran perfect, so I don't want to dismantle anything major...just clean it up and replace the minor gaskets...water pump, intake, tappet covers, oil pan, and fuel pump.

I appreciate any help you guys could provide.
