kc_ksom yea, thanks guys. I looked at them dip sticks down our local speed shop, They cost in the area of $140 aussie dollars, and I dont really want to pay the cash, cause im a tight ***, lol....

I will perservere with the short one, its the only one that fits the hole properly.

sbchevfreak What year is the block? I'd do like Bracketeer suggested, and get one from the boneyard.

bracketeer Cheap aftermarket dipsticks are useless. They are either too small or they go in so tight you snap them off trying to get them back out. Either get a stock GM one out of a junkyard or buy this.

Dip Stick Problems, NEED HELP!!!!!

G'day People

I have a funny dipstick hole in my block, It sits down on the sump area, and I cant seem to get a Mr Gasket one to fit. it seems too thin compared to the block hole, also where it bolts to the block, is about 1 inch to short, as the bump stop on the tube is nowhere near the end.. At present, oil is pissing all over the place....

Is there suppose to be a sleeve or something in there before fitting the tube?????

The one that was in there 1st broke off while I pulled the engine out, but it was a really small one (for chev block) but it was for the block that the tube goes into around the head area. It was just too short and the oil would get past it, and it was also a pain in the but to check oil.

Im getting so frustrated as I cant get it to stop leaking.
