Frisco Thanks for your reply. That was what I figured had to be done. Seems strange that GM didn't provide a fill plug though.

gear box

one of the bolts that hold the pitman arm shaft adjustment cover goes into the gear box for filling. remove one of the bolts one at a time and insert a wire or smilier thing into the hole and see if goes though. when it does use a small funnel and add 90W gear oil to the gear box. it is a slow process because of the small hole. take your time , it will be messy. you might want to check web sights and search out for the amount to add. just type vega gear box, and see what come up.

Vega Steering Box

My latest project ('30 Ford Coupe) came with a Vega steering box installed to the frame rails. I got to looking at it and other than the cap screws and adjuster screw, I don't see any provision to check/fill the box with gear oil. I've looked at other Vega steering boxes and they all seem to be the same configuration.

How do you check the gear lube? What weight gear lube is used?
