56Maynard Yeah, bracketeer is right. Put them studs everywhere you can on a block that old.

bracketeer The rear main cap is fairly thin and weak. It is safer to use an oil pump stud instead of a bolt. If you crack the cap your screwed.

400sbc question

thanks for the reply the reason i asked the question was to find out what to order for main cap bolts from arp large or small journal so it would be large journal thanks again

coldknock All 400's had 2.65" main journals, 0.020" larger than the 350's. The rod journals are 2.100", same as the 350's.

HI guys could some one tell me if a 400 sbc 2 bolt main is a small journal or large journal thanks for your time joe
