xntrik I forgot to say,....... use the 302 crank and rods in whichever block... the pistons are the same.

Good luck

Sorry I have no advice, but good luck.
Let us know how it turns out.
What is this for?

xntrik The blocks are interchangeable if they both are 6 bolt bellhousings.

I would build a 302 cube, never a 289. There is 16 hp and 16 lb ft torque difference..... apples to apples....

the heavier crankshaft is basicly irrelavent.

I prefer the 5.0 pistons in a 302. The narrower rings make more power. CompCams XE 268 H cam. Performer RPM intake, Edelbrock 600 carb.

If you have offset piston pins, Joe Sherman insists that on a 302 it is worth another 20/20 or more to install the pistons with the pin offset backwards.

The 289 closed chamber heads properly done with big valves are worth another 30 hp.

Joe Sherman is the guy who gets 400+ hp out of factory iron headed 302s with pretty mild camshafts...

357f-150 What are you trying to do?

A 289 crank in a 302 block, will give you a 289.

A 302 crank in a 289 block, will give you a 302.

289 and 302's basically use the same engine block.

LAST MINUTE HELP...289 to 302 or stroker

Well I've been asking about the 289 stroker...and i got some input...The 302 finally came in and now i have a 289 disassembled and i have a complete 302 which i am disassembling tonight ! JUST wanted to see if anyone had some last minute advice or even engine building 101 w/ 289 302/stroker engine . i believe im supposed to use the 289 crank with the 302 block and the 289 heads and i have some new pistons which have a .20 stamped on this good or bad? they say performance pistons...and i have the felpro engine rebuild kit...what else should i know??? don't i have to shave off some of the pistons? or is there something i am supposed to do that i don't have written down? i have a edelbrok cam and timing chain...any help would be appreciated.
