|hutcholdschool||Thanks alot everybody you all gave me the info i needed and i really appreciate your site 38Chevy what you covered is exactly what i needed to see. My main problem was with the angle of the brake pedal that it is at when it comes from MP Brakes, its at a downward angle and it was really messing with the height and the positioning of the unit, and after seeing how you cut it and repositioned it that helps my confidence out alot that i was thinking in the right terms of installing it. I have been told by alot of my freinds that i am over thinking everything but this seems so important to me to get it right. Thanks alot and i look forward to using this site and 38Chevy's site for information. Aaron|

you want enough pedal above the floor that your foot is centered on the pedal even when its fully depressed
if the pedal moves to close to the floor as its depressed, the floor will interfere with the heel of your shoe, and in a panic stop situation, you could easily stomp the brakes, and actualy be putting most of your effort into the floor and not the pedal
go out and measure your daily driver, and put the pedal the ame approx distance from the floor
if you cant get it that high because of the units design (mount hits the floor), then just go max height it will allow

I would say have as much sticking through the floor as you can. On my 34 Ford the brake pedal actually hits the bottom of the floorboard before it begins the bend to enter the car. After you have your system plumbed and have bled it you will have a better idea of how much to have sticking through. If it is too high inside you can adjust the master cylinder actuation rod to lower the pedal. You do not want is so low that it prevents you from applying full braking force.

34 Chevy underfloor brake install question?
Hello everybody i have a question that may be kind of stupid but i cant find it by searching this site. I have been working on my 34 Chevy coupe and i am trying to figure out where to put the brake pedal assembly. It is a underfloor unit from MP Brakes. My question is how much pedal lever should be sticking out through the floor into the cab? I am guessing about 4" but i am not sure. I dont want to weld it in and then not have enough pedal to stop also what is the minimum that is acceptable and safe? Thanks alot
