jimfulco What kind of car is this? If it's a Chevy, they used 2 different t/o bearings depending on if the clutch fingers were bent or straight. Long bearing with straight fingers, & vice-versa.

85406 Send an e-mail to the scattershield maker. I have one and a centerforce but used a hydraulic throwout so did not use the stud. The paperwork that came with it gave info on this install although I don't have the paper here now. See what there ball stud requirement are for your set up.

markiemyster Maybe I'm not explaing it correctly. The Bell housing I'm told is deeper because it is a scatter shield. The throw out bearing that was in the car with the old clutch is 5/8-3/4" longer than the one that came with the new clutch. Someone said that I should use the old bearing because the new one is too short to disengage the clutch because of the larger deeper bell housing.
I'm not a gear head so I don't know if this is true but it sounds logical. Does it make a differance because of the bell housing depth.

bullheimer let me get this right first. you have a scatter-shield which is a thick bell housing, and you are wondering about your THROW-OUT BEARING. if i were you i would be wondering how to get the throw out bearing out, not weather or not it will fit (it will). have fun <img src="graemlins/evil.gif" border="0" alt="[evil]" />

Throughout bearing

I'm in the process of changing my clutch to a Centerforce II. I purchased a mathed set (clutch, pressure plate, and throughout bearing)I have a scatterfield bell housing and was told by someone that the throughout bearing that came in the set would be to short because of the larger bell housing. Is this correct???
