taintedspeed more than likely that is your prob. we recently changed a 54 chev over to 12v with a painless wiring kit. the guy we bought the truck from said the conversion was already done. when we started to lose lights and bulbs we found that he had only put in an alt. and 12v batt. we found similiar probs but have cured them with 70's switches. good luck

Old Head Light Switch

Been lookin for ages as to why my 53chev cuts out occasionaly. Going over the elect system I found the 6V head light switch still in use, and guess what else I found, the wires are burned. All the way from inside the switch out. Hope I've found my trouble, hope, hope! Now time to remove the dimmer switch, not worth not replacing that too!!
