About a month ago, my wife and I brought home our baby girl we adopted. Could not be happier. 7lbs 14oz. She was 5 days old. This is our first child.
At 8:00am that Monday morning I was thinking about what all I needed to get done before I can start driving it. Looking forward to working on it after work that evening.

At 8:15am that all changed. We get the call, we pick her up Tuesday afternoon. Excited doesn't describe it. Fathers here can relate.

My Galaxie needs some very easy work so it can be driven and inspected, but yet I cannot find even a spare second to go to the garage. The closest I have gotten is to go out to the driveway, (OUTDOORS) start the car, listen to it purr, reminisce about my carefree days of working on the car, listening to tunes, having a cold one all in my playroom. Then I wake up, I shut it off and go back inside.
Dumb me thought I could work while the baby is sleeping but it seems that as soon as Mama goes to work, babygirl doesn't really like to sleep, but she likes to eat and poop constantly. That and I can't get too dirty because if she really needs me, I'd have to get all cleaned up before I could tend to her. Its all good, but I sure wish I could find just an hour or two to get some things done. Looking forward to when she is old enough for me to put a wrench in her hands.

Congrats. Frank. That is a great thing to adopt.
The car will always be there be there. The little girl will grow up fast and before you know it you will be locking her in her room to stay away from the boys.LOL.
I dont have kids but was adopted. It makes you feel special.

I bought my 69 chevelle the day after I found out our first child was a boy. Not that if it had been a girl would I have done anything different but anyways, my car has pretty much sat for the last 4 1/2 years. I took the gas tank off, vinyl top off and got it started for him on his 4th b-day. He loved that one but other than that have not had the time to do anything with it. Hoepfully this summer will be the year it starts coming apart.... fingers crossed.

Good luck and enjoy you child, they are great....

Congrats on the adoption! We adopted a newborn baby boy 15 years ago, so I know what you're going through. I used to put my son in a litle baby cradle on my workbench in the garage when he was a baby and press on. (Don't tell my wife) I wore rubber gloves so I could rip them off and tend to him from time to time. I also used to take him on rides in my Olds, which he still loves to do. Soon, he gets his learners permit and is already saying he wants to drive the Olds! Enjoy the time with your girl...they grow up to fast. My son is the last one of three left at home. You'll find time, when there is time!

You have probably realized by now that your former life is over with, it has changed forever. You will eventually adjust your life and will have some time for that car. Just keep in mind that family is first and is priority. It all goes by so fast, relish every minute.
