He said it was an compression fitting.
You will need to open it up. Cut the farrel off and shorten your line. You will need a new crush collar and the metal insert if it is DOT. If not it just has a farrel. These are really cheap. You will not be able to save that part.

|61 chevy||push in gently on the hose, push in on locking collar (plastic piece), then pull out hose.|

air line fittings
this may be a dumb question, but it has me stumped. How do you get the airline out of a compression fitting? It is one of those types like used on air ride lines where there is a plastic piece in a metal fitting and the line just pushes in. The line cracked and I wanted to shorten it without buying a new fitting. Is this possible? Thanks in advance!
