water pump # 2

After blow up- It looks a hammer and chisel hole. Casting looks bent also, the picture looses definition with much blow up. Not a drainor vent hole. Replace it if possible. mark

Jmark There is supposed to be a 1/8" vent hole there. Yours looks like either something rubbed it severly, or someone intentionally ground the nose of the water pump down. Personally, on a new engine, i'd replace it even if it weren't leaking. Its cheap insurance.

sbc hole

I have. I don;t remember if sbc. Go to the parts store and compare to others, do you have a fan clutch Is it a big deal- try it or replace it now. I don't remember if you stated what the car is going to be used for. The only idea I can come up with is they didn't want fluid staying between the two bearings. One bearing goes out you get a warning before the fan goes through the radiator- just a thought' I still don't remember where I have seen it , but I have and used it. good luck mark
