I'm thinking of opening a shop, and want to do all types of repairs, and some hot rods, and performance engine rebuilds, also doing foreign, and domestic repairs, but can't think of a name for the shop that stands out.I thought of B.S.L. auto which means barley street legal, but I got to thinking that may not be good.I wouldn't want to take my every day driver to a place called that,I also had D.B. performance & customs, but I was wondering if anyone knew any cool names that may stand out a little more Thanks for looking

My thinking is...if you go with something like DB's Customs and Performance......a lot of people when they see the sign will think thats all you work on and you will lose business working on regular cars. My thinking also is....you need to make sure that the public know that you do regular auto repair also because that will probably be the bulk of your business untill you get a reputation built up for the performance end of it.

Yea and really muscle cars would be a bonus, but I have been told all hot rodders have everyday cars that have to be worked on.

All the Hot Rodders that I know...build thier own hot rods and do thier own repair work on thier daily drivers. Some hot rodders that have a lot of money do hire thier work done, but most of us have to do it ourselves. I was a auto tech for 39 yrs.

B.S.L Auto actually works. Only the people you tell will know what the B.S.L. stands for unless you spell it out on the sign. Most will assume it's your initials. Word will eventually get around in the rodder circles what the "joke" is, but it won't bother them one bit! What it WILL do is help them remember the name because they get the joke.

I was just looking on your bio for your first name. If your instance, if your name is Dave, why not say "Dave's Shop"? Simple, clean and non committal. This will keep the door open for varied work to keep you employed. Word of mouth is the best advertising. Keep your customers happy and place you're really sharp customer's cars out front as a calling card where everyone can see it. Good luck in your venture. :D

I always said that if I opened a shop (which I am sure I won't) I would call it "Busted Knucke Garage."

Anyone that has attempted to work on their car at one time or another has gotten bloody knuckles from a wrench slipping. It's a catchy name, and they will be able to relate with you.
