Nothing on a Auburn unit ... never used one ... I prefer factory Ford gears and my Detroit Locker came out of a Boss Mustang .. in 1969

That is what I mean about somrthing in the looks department, your's looks great. You really got 50k on a aluminium rear chunk? Why is it that it is not reccommend to run them on the street? I remnember a time when the Detriot Locker was the only way to go but have not paid attention in several years. Do you know anything about an Arburn gear unit?

I have a aluminum center section in my 32 Ford with a 9 inch. I also have a Detroit Locker ... I have this same setup under my 32 Roadster ... ( photo is of my 32 3W project )
I have had no issues with my Detroit Locker on the street ... except the noise. I can hear it racket ... click ... click ... click sometimes when I am turning slowly ... in town. I have 50 thousand miles on mine ...
The aluminum center section saves about 20 pounds on the unprung weight side of the axle ... and also helps the ride ... My aluminum center is a Strange manufactured unit ... not a Currie. Mark William also make them ... too ...

I have seen several answers on if an aluminum center housing (Strange Currie) should be used on the street. Any thoughts? I plan to run 3.70 gears with some very tall tires (33 in I think).

|85406||I would think a 9" with a stock trac loc would probably be all you would need for the bucket. Even with big street tires you would probably lite em up before you would hurt the stock rear. If you are doing long trips ( always a chance of a damp road) I would stay away from a detroit locker.|

Suggestions for 9 inch ford
I would like some opinions for a 9 inch rear end I will install in a T bucket.
I know a stock rearend is all I need on this car, but it is a hot rod lol.
I would like to know what about a Detroit locker. This car will see light street use, with a few long trips. Or should I go with something else?/
Opinions anyone? Also any idea on cost (just ballpark)
